Chur is one of the warmest cities in Switzerland.
Thanks to the warm, dry fall wind known as the Föhn and its location sheltered by high mountains, Chur often enjoys a very mild, pleasant climate. This gives the Alpine City many balmy summer evenings with an almost Mediterranean ambience during the warm season. There is fog only on six to seven days a year. Nevertheless, winter temperatures often drop below freezing, which opens up great and extremely diverse winter sports opportunities in the immediate vicinity of the city.
